Rainbow Plate Program

Wyoming, ON - Lambton County Library will be partnering with Lambton Public Health  to educate and familiarize children with healthy fruits and vegetables through the Rainbow Plate program.

Registered dieticians will provide children with healthy foods that have been washed, cut, and grouped by colour.  Children are invited to play with the food, taste it, or leave it be; whatever they please.

"A healthy plate has all the different colours of the rainbow, but each person experiences food differently and that's okay," says Lise Babcock.  "This program will allow kids to explore food and provide them with some new vocabulary so they can better communicate what they like and dislike.  In other words, 'yuck' could be replaced with 'sour', 'crunchy', or 'juicy'.  Hopefully they will try a new food that makes them say 'yum'!"

This free one-hour program will be offered at branches listed below.  The program is free; however, pre-registration is required by calling the individual library.
