Spread the Words 2019
Lambton County Library's annual Spread the Words program, an event that encourages families to read together and discover the wonderful world of books, begins January 27, 2019 at all branches.
Authors featured this year are Bob Shea, for children ages 6 and under, and Cressida Cowell, an author for older children. Books listed on the Freedom to Read Challenged Book List are also included.
Bob Shea has written over 20 children's picture books including Dance! Dance! Underpants! and Unicorn Thinks He's Pretty Great. He has also written and created characters for Nick Jr., Disney Junior, and PBS Kids. Bob's expressive character illustrations will capture the attention of the most reluctant readers and his hilarious stories will have kids laughing out loud! Bob Shea's books are perfect for reading aloud and sharing with every member of your family, young and old.
Cressida Cowell is the award-winning author of The Wizards of Once series and How to Train Your Dragon series, which has been adapted into the popular How to Train Your Dragon movie series. Cressida's memorable characters, Norse-themed fantasy setting, and rollicking sense of adventure will draw tween readers in.
The Spread the Words event begins on Family Literacy Day, celebrates World Read-Aloud Day on February 1, and finishes on the last day of Freedom to Read Week, Saturday, March 2, 2019.
