Large Print Books

Lambton County Library has an extensive collection of large print books, which any member may borrow. These are exchanged among the branches regularly.

Deposit Collections

Long-term care homes receive a selection of library books regularly for use by their residents.

French Language Materials

Fiction, non-fiction and audiovisual materials are available for children and adults.

Multilingual Materials

Books are available in French and other languages such as Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, German, Greek, Gujarati, Hindi, Italian, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog and Urdu. Children’s books, large print books, CDs, Videos and DVDs are also available in some of these languages.

Book Club Kits

Book Club sets are available for an 8-week loan period and can be reserved online.

Each set contains 10 copies of the book.

Literacy Kits

We have a wide range of popular books available for loan.  Each book has related age-appropriate activities to enhance understanding and support developing reading skills.

Theme Kits

Create your own circle time at home! Our theme kits contain books, craft suggestions, puppets, rhymes and fingerplays, and more, all selected to complement a particular theme.  Theme kits are available for a 1-week loan period.  Borrow a kit today!

Video Games

The library now offers a selection of video games for these consoles; PS3PS4,  XBOX360 and XBOXOne, and Nintendo Wii, WiiU3DS and Switch.  They are available for a 1-week loan period with a maximum of five titles per library card.  

Playaway View®

An all-in-one video player exclusive to libraries!  These are pre-loaded with multiple videos so children can view great content wherever they are.  Set includes a head-phone jack and speakers.  

They are available for a 3-week loan period with a maximum of 2 per library card.

Playaway Launchpad

Playaway Launchpad is a tablet that has been pre-loaded with interactive learning content

Braille Books

Lambton County Library maintains a small Braille collection of children's books.  Braille Books (adult and children's) are also available through Inter-Library Loan.

CELA: Centre for Equitable Library Access

CELA provides equitable public library services for Canadians with print disabilities. Patrons with a valid library card may register for this service at www.celalibrary.ca, or contact Library HQ at 519-845-3324 x5232. Service includes automated title selection and home delivery.

ESL Language Learning Materials

Study material for English language learning, including proficiency tests such as TOEFL and TOEIC (beginner to advanced levels) are available. They are housed at the Sarnia Library.

eReaders

Lambton County Library has eReader kits that you can borrow for free with your library card. These devices connect to Wi-Fi, so you do not need a computer to access materials.

The eReader kits include the Kobo Aura One eReader, a standard cover, USB cable, and instruction cards.

You can download directly to the eReader from Lambton County Library's digital collection on OverDrive. Sign into OverDrive with your library card number and PIN, browse for books and borrow directly in the app. This is a great way to test out an eReader or read an eBook in our collection that is not available in another format.

What is required to borrow an eReader?
  1. Lambton County Library Card
  2. Photo I.D.

Borrowers must be 16 years of age or older. Parents can borrow eReaders for their children.

Downloads on eReaders
  • eReaders download eBooks only.
  • eBooks may not be transferred from the eReader to a computer or other device.
  • eReaders are not to be used for purchasing or loading digital content from sources outside the Lambton County Library Collection.

Loan Period and Renewals
  • eReaders can be borrowed for up to 21 days.
  • Due to demand, renewals are not available for eReaders.

Holds

Holds can be placed on eReaders in branch, by phone, or online. You will need your library card number to place a hold on an eReader.

Returns

When returning the eReader, ensure all items are included and the device is fully charged. The eReader must be returned to the branch it was borrowed from. Please do not return the eReader in the drop box.

Fines and Replacement Costs
  • Overdue fine: $5 per day to a maximum of $25.
  • Replacement cost: Up to $150, in addition to any accrued late fees. All kit items must be included.
