County of Lambton Closes Its Libraries, Museums and Gallery
Monday, March 16, 2020
Wyoming, ON - As a precaution to help limit the spread of COVID-19 and support the efforts of Lambton Public Health to promote social distancing, the County of Lambton Cultural Services Division has decided to close all of its cultural services facilities, effective end of scheduled hours Monday, March 16 through to Sunday, April 5.
This closure impacts all 25 Lambton County Library locations (including the Sarnia Library Theatre), Lambton Heritage Museum, Oil Museum of Canada, Lambton County Archives, and Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery. All Mobile Library Service deliveries are cancelled for the same period. Online library services will continue to be supported, and some staff may be redirected to support the community response led by Lambton Public Health.
While these cultural facilities are closed during this period and all events and programs are cancelled or postponed, patrons are reminded that no fines will accumulate for library materials that are currently on loan and due dates have been automatically extended to April 6. To avoid unnecessary travel, do not return your currently checked-out library materials as library drop boxes will not be accessible. Patrons may also renew materials online. Due dates for materials waiting on hold to be picked up by patrons have also been extended.
Patrons are encouraged to access the library's digital resources at www.lclibrary.ca. Digital resources include eBooks, eAudiobooks, eNewspapers, eMagazines, movies, music, online learning and more. For help accessing these resources online email librarytechhelp@county-lambton.on.ca or call 519-845-3324 ext. 5266.
The County of Lambton Cultural Services Division is closely monitoring the developing COVID-19 situation, seeking guidance from Lambton Public Health and making changes as appropriate. Decisions regarding future programming commitments beyond April 5 will be made as the situation unfolds.
The safety of visitors, staff, and volunteers are a top priority, and new developments will be monitored closely. Continue to check for additional updates at www.lclibrary.ca, www.lambtonmuseums.ca and www.jnaag.ca.
