Media Literacy
Ontario Public Library Week is an opportunity to recognize the invaluable services that libraries provide. Libraries are essential for accessing resources for finding trustworthy information. During Ontario Public Library Week, we are highlighting resources and programs to help you navigate today's information-driven world!
What is Media Literacy?
Media literacy means being able to find, understand, judge, and create different types of media. It helps us see how media influences our thoughts and opinions. With media literacy, we can think carefully about the information we see, whether it's a news story or a social media post.
Why is it Important?
Media literacy is important because it gives us the skills to deal with the huge amount of information we see every day. With so much content online and in the news, being media literate helps us spot trustworthy sources, recognize false information, and make smarter choices. It also helps us think critically, making us better at understanding and creating media.
