Preschool Programs
All Lambton County Library locations offer regular programs for preschool kids, ages 0 - 5 that are designed to stimulate and create an early interest in reading and literacy. Programs include:
1000 Books Before Kindergarten |
Reading with your baby, toddler, or preschooler is one of the best ways to help them become a lifelong reader. Taking part in our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program encourages bonding, promotes the development of early literacy skills and helps give kids the tools they need to succeed in school. Read 1000 different books or read the same book 1000 times. |
Baby Rhyme Time (ages 0 - 18 months) |
A 30-minute program for babies aged 0 to 18 months and their caregivers. Learn how to be your baby’s first teacher by learning songs, rhymes, fingerplays, and movement activities that help your baby recognize sounds, develop gross motor skills and spatial awareness, and begin to understand the building blocks of language. Caregivers will be active participants in this interactive program. |
Toddler Tales (ages 18 - 36 months) |
A 30-minute program for toddlers aged 18-36 months and their caregivers. Make sure your child is ready to read by learning new songs, activities and games that you can do together at home. Reading, talking, singing, and playing are four activities that will help prepare your toddler to read. The activities in this program will help your toddler learn that print has meaning, that words are made up of smaller sounds, and that stories follow patterns. All of these skills prepare them to become readers. |
Family Storytime (ages 2.5 - 5 years) |
A 60-minute program for toddlers aged 2.5 to 5 years and their caregivers. This program continues to build on early literacy skills and helps kids beginning to learn to read with stories, songs, games, and a craft. The program is built for kids aged 2.5-5 years, but all members of a family are welcome and will be actively involved in the program. |
