Culture Days kicks off with sneak peek of Sarnia Library Theatre
Sarnia, ON - Lambton County Library is kicking of Culture Days celebrations on Friday, September 27, 2019 with a sneak peek of the newly renovated Sarnia Library Theatre.
Over the months of July and August, the County of Lambton undertook a cosmetic renovation of the theatre, located in downtown Sarnia, in an effort to enhance the facility's accessibility and to modernize the space.
Now, visitors to the theatre will enjoy larger seats, lighted aisles, and increased spacing between rows. The ability to add up to six barrier-free seats in the theatre is also now possible.
"This cosmetic renovation to the Sarnia Library Theatre is the first phase of several renovations that will be taking place at the Sarnia Library by both the City of Sarnia as building owner, and the County of Lambton as building tenant," says Andrew Meyer, General Manager of the County of Lambton Cultural Services Division. "This cosmetic renovation is another step toward achieving our goals of renewing our cultural assets as they age and improving accessibility for all of the theatre's visitors."
In addition to the seating changes, the renovation also resulted in a fresh coat of paint, new flooring, and the replacement of lighting fixtures inside the theatre. The project was awarded to Aveiro Construction Ltd. at a cost of approximately $160,000.
Tours of the theatre will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on September 27, culminating with remarks from Warden Bill Weber at 2:00 pm before a free public screening of the children's movie "How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World."
