Book Cover Design Contest
Lambton County Library has teamed up with Gallery in the Grove and the Canadian Society of Children's Authors, Illustrators, and Performers (CANSCAIP) to host a book cover design contest for youth that asks kids to redesign a front cover for their favourite book.
The library’s contest will complement Gallery in the Grove’s exhibit, “CANSCAIP in the Grove: The Art of Picturebooks,” from September 9 to October 28, 2023.
The Contest
- Open to children ages 5 - 12
- Two age categories: 5 - 8 and 9 - 12
- Original artworks can be submitted in person at any Lambton County Library location from July 3 to September 2, 2023
- Winners will be announced on September 9, 2023
- The deadline for book cover design submissions is Saturday, September 2, 2023
- An Entry Form must accompany all submissions
Entries will be judged based on their originality and artistic value in the two age categories.
Winners from each age category will receive an Art Kit worth $50 and have their designs displayed alongside the works of the CANSCAIP artists at Gallery in the Grove. Additionally, two runners-up from each age group will be awarded book prizes featuring selected works by CANSCAIP artists. All submitted designs be displayed at the Sarnia Library from September 22 to October 22, 2023.
“The Book Cover Design Contest is a great way for kids to use their imaginations and artistic skills to create a book cover that captures attention and curiosity.”
- Vanitia Campbell, Public Services Coordinator - Youth.
