Changes to Library Services During Ontario's Stay-At-Home Order
Wyoming, ON – In response to the state of emergency announced by the Province of Ontario on January 12, several changes will be made to Lambton County Library’s operations.
The Sarnia Library Theatre will be closed effective immediately and will remain closed until further notice.
To help residents enjoy entertainment and leisure activities at home, Lambton County Library will continue to offer contactless curbside pickup service at 14 of its locations. Patrons can browse thousands of book and movie titles online at lclibrary.ca and reserve items for quick, contactless pickup. During the Province’s stay-at-home order, Lambton County Library will temporarily waive the accumulation of fines on overdue items; however, drop boxes will remain open at all locations.
Lambton County Library also encourages its cardholders to discover the convenience of its eLibrary services from the comfort of their homes. Using a computer, tablet or smart phone, patrons can borrow eBooks, eAudiobooks, stream movies and music, take online courses, access educational apps and more.
In addition, Ancestry Library Edition home access has been extended to March 31, 2021. Ancestry Library Edition provides access to billions of historical documents and is a popular resource for people interested in researching their family histories. Ancestry Library Edition is typically only available while on-site at a Lambton County Library location or the Lambton County Archives but is now available at any location for free.
“Lambton County Library has plenty of free resources for every age group to help them stay entertained while staying at home during this provincial state of emergency,” said Darlene Coke, Manager, Library Services. “These next four weeks present a good opportunity to bundle up with a book or eBook, watch movies, start researching your family ancestry, or invest in your professional development by taking online classes, all available online and free, courtesy of Lambton County Library.”
