Kids Challenge
Young readers aged 0 - 12 are invited on a literary adventure filled with books, badges, and exciting prizes.
Reading and Rewards
Read and win! Log the number of books you read between January 25 and March 16 in Beanstack to achieve badges at different milestones. Your reading adventures are not only a joy but also a ticket to exciting rewards! Win a free book prizes upon earning the 5 Books, 10 Books, and 15 Books Badges.
Activity Badges
Complete activity badges for your chance to win more prizes! To complete the challenge, earn any four badges—reading, activity or a mix of both. Everyone completing the challenge enters a draw to win a KiwiCo STEM kit.
Family Literacy Badge: Complete one of the activities listed as a family to be entered into a draw for a family party pack valued at $100. Families come is all shapes and sizes! Aunts, uncles, grandparents, and friends can complete these activities with kids too.
Freedom to Read Badge: Celebrate your freedom to read by choosing your own book to earn this badge.
StoryWalk Badge: Bundle up and visit at StoryWalk. Visit just one StoryWalk and name either the title, a character, or the setting of the book to earn this badge.
Winter Activity Badge: Exercise is important, even when the weather is colder! Try one of the activities listed in Beanstack to keep active this winter and earn this badge.
For readers aged 13 to 18, the Teen Winter Reading Challenge awaits!
Reading and Rewards for Teens
Read and win! Log the number of minutes you read between January 25 and March 16 in Beanstack to achieve badges at 200, 400, and 600 minutes and win free book prizes after each milestone. Complete the Freedom to Read Badge to earn an entry into a draw for a $50 Amazon gift card and complete any four badges total to earn an entry into a draw for a second $50 Amazon gift card.
Activity Badges
Freedom to Read Badge: Celebrate your intellectual freedom and freedom to read by choosing your own book and reading it for at least 30 minutes. You can select something from the Challenged Works list, but you don't have to. Freedom to read is about reading whatever you want to read.
Indoor Winter Activity Badge: If the weather isn't great, try out one of the indoor activities listed in Beanstack to earn this badge.
Outdoor Winter Activity Badge: Exercise is important, even when the weather is colder! Try one of the activities listed in Beanstack to keep active this winter and earn this badge.
Readers 18 + can participate in the Winter Reading Challenge too!
Reading and Rewards for Adults
Each book logged will enter you in to a draw for a chance to win one of five $25.00 Tourism Sarnia-Lambton gift certificates. Remember, reading to others counts! We encourage you to continue logging even if you earn all six logging badges. $25.00 Tourism Sarnia-Lambton gift certificate draws will also be available for those who complete the activity badges.

Freedom to Read Badge: Freedom to Read Week takes place February 23 – March 1, 2025. It is an annual event that encourages Canadians to think about and reaffirm their commitment to intellectual freedom. Check out the list of Challenged Works and complete one of the activities listed in Beanstack to earn the badge.
