Lambton County Councillors leading storytime programs at local libraries for Local Government Week
Wyoming, ON – To celebrate Local Government Week, Lambton County Councillors will visit several local libraries to help deliver storytimes across the County.
Lambton County Warden Kevin Marriott and several Councillors will help read to children during popular library programs, offering families a chance to meet their local elected representative and celebrate the important work of local government service, including library services, which serve a critical role promoting early literacy which leads to healthier communities.
“Public Libraries are an essential community resource and studies have shown that communities with higher literacy rates also often have low unemployment rates, higher wage earners, and higher educational attainment,” said Warden Kevin Marriott. “Lambton County Council is proud of the professional library service it offers to our community and supports the library’s efforts to nurture a literate community that is able to read, write, count, comprehend, communicate and critically evaluate ideals and information at all ages and stages of life.”
