Lambton County Library presents new Radon Initial Screening Kits for Radon Action Month
Wyoming, ON – Lambton County Library cardholders can now borrow Radon Initial Screening Kits for measuring the presence of radon at home. Radon is the number one cause of lung cancer in non-smokers in Canada. It occurs naturally in soil and rocks and enters the home from the ground. Radon is a colourless, odourless radioactive gas. Testing is the only way to detect it.
“Digital radon monitors are initial screening tools for identifying radon levels beyond the recommended guideline provided by Health Canada,” said Kevin Coates, Public Services Coordinator – Collections. "The Radon Initial Screening Kits offer a glimpse into the radon levels in your home. Always follow up with a Canadian National Radon Proficiency Program certified long-term radon test for accurate results. Once you know the results, you can take steps to mitigate radon in your home.”
Radon Initial Screening Kits can be borrowed for up to 21 days with a valid Lambton County Library card. Visit www.healthcanada.gc.ca/radon or call 1-833-723-6600 for more information on radon, or lclibrary.ca to place a hold on a Radon Initial Screening Kit.
Library cards are free for anyone who lives, works, studies, owns property in Lambton County, or is a resident of a First Nations community in Ontario. For more information on how to become a Lambton County Library cardholder visit lclibrary.ca/apply.
